Does my child eat dinner at VBS?

Historically, we have provided families with a free-will offering meal Monday-Thursday from 5:30-6:00pm, right before VBS starts. Due to Covid-19, our dinner plans are currently undetermined. We hope to be providing dinner, but a final decision will be made at a later date.

Snacks are also served at VBS. Please let us know about any food allergies your child might have!

What should my child wear to VBS?

We move around A LOT at VBS, both inside and outside, so comfort is key! Please also be aware that your child may be participating in crafts or activities where their clothes might get dirty or wet. Athletic shoes are preferred. NO flip flops please! Leave the hats, sunglasses, purses, and other accessories at home. If you are concerned about sunscreen, please apply it before you leave home.

What NOT to bring:

Phones, cameras or other portable media. The directors and volunteers will have all that covered! No toys, dolls, or stuffed animals, as we are very busy at VBS and don't have room for those distractions. No food, drinks, gum or candy. We provide snacks and drinks, and there are water fountains available in each building.

Does my child need to bring any money?

VBS is a free event at St. John's, but there are daily opportunities for giving through Operation Kid-to-Kid. This year, we are working to provide better health opportunities for moms and babies in Zambia. Throughout their week are Roar, kids and adults will learn about this exciting outreach project. Each day, kids are welcome to put a monetary donation in the giving tree. During Safari Celebration each day, we will add water to our elephant's watering hole for each donation given. As the water increases, we will get a glimpse of the health and nourishment being provided through this special project.

Can we bring a friend or family member?

All children are welcome to sign up for VBS, regardless of if they are a member of St. John's or not. However, we require pre-registration and do not accept walk-ins. Registration will close on July 5th, so encourage your friends and family to sign up before that date!

Can parents stay around to watch VBS?

For the safety of all children and to eliminate any distractions, we ask that parents leave after drop off. You are welcome to return for the last 30 minutes of VBS to watch our safari celebration! If you're interested in sticking around for the whole time, we encourage you to sign up to be a volunteer!
